Interdigital neuroma, also known as Morton’s neuroma, is a painful condition affecting the forefoot and is a common cause of foot pain. Pain is most often felt between the third and fourth toes, though it can also occur between the second and third toes. The exact cause isn’t completely understood, but research suggests it may involve swelling, scarring, or a benign growth in one of the small nerves in the foot. Symptoms are usually caused by irritation of the nerve running between the toes.
